This past Thursday, I had a great opportunity. I got to go behind the scenes with Lee Love, who is a commercial photographer in the area. You should check out his work; he does FABULOUS stuff and he’s a great man who loves to laugh and enjoy life. The shoot he was doing happened to be of a man who writes for Patch, which is a local news source. There are 16 states that have a “Patch” and there are 31 different Patches in Virginia alone. Nathan, Lee’s subject for the day, is the editor for the Dale City Patch.
It was great to do this with Lee; I was there to kinda help him out, but mostly it helped me out and it was such an awesome experience! He welcomes questions and is so understanding about the different struggles and anxieties that I’ve had as I’ve started this venture. Our styles are very different, but I loved watching him work and getting a feel for how he captures his beautiful work! (No really. Did you click that link yet? You won’t be disappointed.) He’s great to learn from and you’ll probably be hearing about him in the future!
We started the shoot in a coffee shop, then moved to a street median, and made our final stop at the Dale City Fire Department (my personal favorite).

Oh goody! My favorite part! Lee’s assignment was to get Nathan with something that could be identified with Dale City, preferably something that spelled it out, like a sign. Not wanting to be too cliche, Lee thought it would be a good idea to check out the Fire Station for the Dale City signage.

Lucky for us, the firemen were busy doing this climbing rope thingy and were very friendly.

Thank you fire people of Dale City! You guys are cool!
In other news, I leave for VEGAS tomorrow!! I should already be asleep actually. But hey, that’s what the plane ride is for, right? I can’t wait to blog from the MGM Grand, to sit at the feet of awesome professionals, meet new people and to learn! I’m so ready! Wish me luck!
