Back in December, I had the pleasure of hanging out with some awesome wedding professionals in AWP for their holiday party. AWP is an association for wedding professionals to network and to be held to a high standard of ethics and professionalism. I know it’s been a while, but there was an article being published (she used my pictures! So honored!) so I just though would wait until it came out and then this post kind of got lost in the shuffle. So here it is! I went as a guest of my sister who is a member (I was not in any way the photographer for the night, I just brought the camera for fun!) and after that night, I’m not so sure that I shouldn’t join too! Take a look at this awesome event!
It was held at one of my favorite places – the Carlyle Club in Alexandria. If you’re into the 40s at all, you need to go check it out! They host private events, but they also do regular dinner seating. It’s set up like a nightclub from the 40s: booths, a stage, and often they have impersonators and music depending on the event. The first time we went there, the Johnny Miller Orchestra was playing and it was so cool!

Look at those awesome centerpieces! I just could NOT stop taking pictures of them! They were provided by Graceful Flowers and truly added so much to the atmosphere!

Ok ok, so I realize I probably posted an overabundance of these centerpieces…but they were just so cool!

The menus were done by Lemontree Invitation and were absolutely perfect!

See how beautiful the Carlyle Club is!?!

The restaurant actually closes to hold private events, so we got to hang out in the main dining room and the bar, which was wonderfully beautiful too…

This delicious table was from the Chocolate Chick, and it was awesome!

Oh my gosh! I don’t know what it was about it, but that right there on the left? A little piece of heaven. They began with mashed potato bar and I kid you not, it was the best thing ever. I came home and told Leta that I needed one at my wedding. She, of course, thought I was crazy. But everyone went back for seconds. And it’s unique, right?

And here is my gorgeous sister! We might have both dressed to match the location. C’mon, our dad reenacts..of course we have 40s dresses in our closets. Thank you Daddy for giving us a love of historical things!

Yay for fun hairpieces!

Our very own impersonators for the evening! FDR and Lucy were from Newventur Entertainment and then on the left was Ella Fitzgerald and on the right is Billie Holiday!

Music for the night was provided by DJ Angie D.

Let’s dance!

And I’ll end with this super cute couple. Have a happy day everyone!
